When grunge punk UCLA history major, Kate Jensen researches her great-grandfather's descent into hysteria at Lima Peru's infamous "Casa Matusita", she unwittingly starts a dangerous journey of discovery. Following an end-of-term school ceremony, the American boy Bobby decides to go with his friend Akkun into the mountains outside their village, to a place perfect for a secret base. On the way they stop into a mysterious amusement park. They have fun there, but are attacked and cannot leave. Falling in with some other children who are also lost there, they fend off a number of attacks, and gradually learn the truth behind the facility. 19-year-old Celeste and 26-year-old Sihem, both heroin addicts, are admitted to a rehab clinic the same day. They have a feeling they’ll be good friends. When Sihem tells Celeste that she had been pregnant but ended up having an abortion, Celeste says, “That’s not your fault.” Celeste is also comforted by Sihem when Celeste blames her mother for visiting her.
